It should come as no surprise that a school located in Dubai Sports city takes sport in all its forms seriously. GEMS United School (GUS) celebrates every sporting success, whether on or off the field, combining a genuine love of sport with world-class facilities both within the school and in the Sports City area.
GUS students have every opportunity to get active and try their hand at a host of sports. The surrounding neighbourhood is home to the Sports Village, ICC Cricket Academy, Football Centre, Sports Park and the Els Club Golf Course, while the GUS campus itself boasts two full-court indoor gymnasiums, two swimming pools, a soccer field, a 400-metre track and field, tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, two large outdoor multi-purpose elementary play spaces, several multi-purpose covered courts and an Astroturf field.

Situated next to several acclaimed Dubai Sports Academies, GUS fosters a competitive sporting spirit across its campus. The school’s four houses – Blue Gazelles, Green Hawks, Yellow Sandcats and Red Sharks – regularly compete in athletics, sports and games. This also gives a chance for Student House Captains to rise to the occasion and take-on inspirational roles to learn the essence and importance of sporting control and leadership.
With its sporting heritage, GUS fully supports student-athletes, helping them to balance their academic and training schedules. The school pushes its students toward national and international competitions and currently excels in tennis, basketball swimming and golf. Featuring students and alumni at the very top of their sporting game, this small community school enjoys an enormous amount of success both regionally and internationally.
The school’s sports, PE, health and well-being programmes, collectively known as the Panthers Sports Programme, support the school’s mission and vision. They stimulate student’s athletic engagement through inter-scholastic sporting opportunities and target all abilities in a wide variety of sports.

The Panthers Sports Programme develops values of teamwork, pride, respect, tolerance and sportsmanship while fielding skilled, disciplined, dedicated and motivated teams. GUS ensures a non-selective format in Elementary and Middle School, making sure that every student, regardless of ability, has opportunities to learn, grow and choose their favourite sport. In fact, last academic year saw over 75 per cent of students in Elementary and Middle School compete in a variety of events.
Every member of the GUS community is a proud and vocal Panther supporter, with large crowds of students, parents and teachers in attendance at home events to cheer on the teams. ‘Panther Pride’ is deeply rooted within the school community and students love to share their sporting achievements. Ask any GUS student and they will tell you that are proud to be Panthers, taking full advantage of the school’s sports programme that develops both their physical ability as well as their character, communication, collaboration and teamwork.
