Run Like the Wind

Ultimate Athletics UAE celebrates two of its star performers who are headed to Sweden’s Gothenburg World Youth Games.

GEMS Winchester School (WSD) student, Krtajna Prem, is one of Ultimate Athletics UAE’s most gifted and talented athletes. He is also one of the club’s longest standing members, having trained there for over nine years. He has been selected to represent Ultimate Athletics at The Gothenburg World Youth Games in Sweden this June together with fellow Elite Ultimate Athletes.

He has a number of accolades under his belt already which include:
• GEMS Sports Series winner in the Boys U16 100m and 200m in April 2018
• He holds the record for the 100m and 200m at Our Own Interschool Meets
• He represented Al Wasl Club in the U16 UAE Clubs meetings 2018, claiming first prize
• He improved his PB from 11.13 in October 2018 to 10.76 at Racenight 2019, held at the end of February He is the current Racenight U17 record holder for the 100m and 200m
• He was selected for Indian Nationals after finishing second for the state of Tamilnadu in trials held on 26 January 2019.
• He secured fifth position overall in the Indian National Youth U18 championships held on 19 February in India despite being only 16 years old.

Krtajna is a fantastic role model. He is extremely focused and disciplined, often doing his homework track side before training. He always arrives early to do his rolling and stretching, having learned from an injury sustained last season. He is also starting to incorporate strength, conditioning, and weight training into his programme, and he is determined to reach his full potential. He is a pleasure to coach and we are very proud to have him in the Ultimate Athletics Family.
